Over 35 years ago I was a management consultant working with community banks and thrifts to improve their operation in the processing of deposits and lending. In 1988 I was aware of stress in the thrift industry, on February 6th 1989 newly inaugurated George Bush addressed the country on the failure of many Thrifts and that everyone’s deposit would be made safe. When I realized my home town Saving and Loan was about to go under, I asked the question What happened ? Why did this happen and most of all Who let this happen? If you google Tim Anderson Bank Consultant , you can read two bios on me as of that time. In 1998 the late George Kaufam of Loyola Chicago and Larry Mote of the FRB-Chicago asked me to write a paper for an economic conference , they knew I was not an economist or an academician , they just wanted my 10 years of investigating who let this scandal happen . What Kaufman and Mote wanted was a history paper on my experiences investigating these issues. Then in 2001 George Kaufman called and ask me to look into the failure of Superior Bank of Chicago since he was asked to testify before the Senate Banking Committee on this failure. During this period of time I networked with seven renowned and distinguish economist , George Kaufman of Loyola Chicago, Larry Mote of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Ed Kane of Boston
College , Jim Barth of Auburn University , Phil Bartholomew of IMF , Tom Lutton of OFHEO and Gerry Hanweck of George Mason University. Sadly we have lost all of them and I at 81 would like to launch this project soon. The way we worked together was , I would investigate and give my work to the media which would investigate further and then write their stories built on my research and investigations. Then Kaufman and Kane would put me on an economic panel to record my experiences not as an economist but as a historian on the issues
