The purpose of this project is to create a teaching tool to motivate students and the public to get involved in holding their representatives to their responsibility of protecting the public’s economic future. It is my premise that the public has no idea as to how their representatives in both the House and Senate, have allowed Wall Street to line it’s pockets while putting the public in economic
peril, through negligence and complicity , in their oversight responsibility .
This project will focus on the relationship of the FDIC to members of Congress and wealthy privileged families ,that could have paid for their nefarious activities , but let the FDIC cover these responsibilities while having innocent depositors to lose from the FDIC actions. How the FDIC handle this one institution , lead to a major contributing cause to the Great Recession of 2008.
The objective of this project is to create a new innovative teaching tool created for students by students. Economists have written thousands of papers on the Savings and Loan Scandal and the Subprime Securitization Scandal , and almost all of them deal with how they happened ,not why they happened and who let it happen. Journalists tend to write books and yet seldom name who made the decisions that put the economy in peril . These books and papers are read by very few people ,which is why Congress can rest easy that there will be no outcry to investigate the FDIC for their negligence and complicity.
